Student centred learning. Problems and Solutions:

Too little contact hours allocated for Family Health.
A lot of lecturer’s preparation time is required in order to plan for an effective teaching methods which employs student-centered learning and at the same time encouraging wide scope of learning.

Solution:

  • SCL group should be small size involving 5-6 students
  • Emphasize on team work using psychomotor skills
  • Encourage independent learning
  • complete set of learning modules  before first class
  • use of on-line teaching module and interaction
  • Effective learning module
  • Pre-class preparation – a must
  • Quick 5-min briefing at beginning
  • Presentation by group at the end of class
  • Preparation of group report needs organization, synthesis and construction of knowledge
  • Group report to be submitted in the next class
  • Group discussion with the lecturer on report of activities
